Martin Thomas Butchers

Craig is a sixth-generation butcher working within his family’s long-established business, which includes a small farm where they rear their own sheep and cattle for supply. He began his career in the business in 1994 and has since become a prominent figure in the British meat industry. Since 2018, Craig has served as a director and executive member of National Craft Butchers, the UK’s national trade association, and took on the role of Treasurer in 2020.

Renowned for their multi award-winning black pudding, Craig’s business has been recognised internationally, notably as the only UK medal winners at IFFA Frankfurt in 2016, 2019, and 2022. In 2025, while unable to compete, Craig was invited to judge at the world-famous product competition—representing the UK and assessing entries from across the globe. Staying true to his traditional roots, Craig also produces dry salted, air-dried bacon, which has won accolades throughout the UK.

He is a proud member of the Institute of Meat and was recently admitted to the Worshipful Company of Butchers at Butchers’ Hall in London.
