Eligible Countries

World Steak Challenge is open to all steak-producing and processing companies whether trading nationally or internationally, such as:

  • Beef producers
  • Cattle farmers and ranchers
  • Beef processors
  • Steak brands
  • Beef wholesalers
  • Retailers on behalf of producers

We would like to take entries from all countries into the World Steak Challenge. However, we have to follow the EU legislation in regard to imports.

If the meat is from any country in the EU or EEA you can enter.

Please note that meat may only be imported into the EU which originates from an EU approved establishment in the non-EU country of origin and which has issued a unique approval registration number which must be applied on the shipment and on the accompanying documents. In addition specific conditions may apply per country of origin: these can be found at Special Import Conditions - Food Safety - European Commission.

  • The full list of third countries for entry into the EU for can be found in Annex XIII here
  • All suppliers exporting to the EU must be registered on the ‘Establishment Amendments Lists’ on TRACES NT. Details on how to do this can be found here
  • The TRANCES NT portal can be found here
  • Any meat imported must meet EU legislation including hygiene and traceability requirements and have all certificates needed to enter the Netherlands - full regulations are here
  • Details on what is needed for veterinary import to the Netherlands can be found here
