Eligible Countries

World Steak Challenge is open to all steak-producing and processing companies whether trading nationally or internationally, such as:

  • Beef producers
  • Cattle farmers and ranchers
  • Beef processors
  • Steak brands
  • Beef wholesalers
  • Retailers on behalf of producers

We would like to take entries from all countries into the World Steak Challenge. However, we have to follow the EU legislation in regard to imports.

If the meat is from any country in the EU or EEA you can enter. If it is from any other part of the world, please be aware that the meat must come from an EU-established (slaughterhouse, cutting plants, cold stores).


Countries outside the EU that can enter:

Argentina*, Australia, Brazil*, Botswana*, Belize, Canada, Chile, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Cuba, Falkland Islands, United Kingdom, Greenland, Guatemala, Honduras, Island of Man, Japan, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Mexico, Namibia*, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Serbia, Eswatini*, United States, Uruguay.

*These countries have further restrictions on area. Please refer to Annex XIII Part 2 here

  • All suppliers exporting to the EU must be registered on the ‘Establishment Amendments Lists’ on TRACES NT. Details on how to do this can be found here

  • Any meat imported must meet EU legislation including hygiene and traceability requirements and have all certificates needed to enter the Netherlands - full regulations are here
