Richard brings over 30 years of global experience in the meat industry, with a background that spans hands-on butchery, education, food development, and international trade. Originally from New Zealand, Richard began his career early—launching his own butchery at just 20 years old and going on to win New Zealand Butcher of the Year in 2003.
His career has taken him across New Zealand, Australia, and Papua New Guinea, where he worked as a Meat Lecturer and was also
responsible for international meat trading and production. Richard then relocated to the UK, where he has spent the past 15+ years in
senior roles within the food service sector—training chefs, mentoring butchers, and leading product development initiatives.
Before becoming UK/EU Country Manager for Meat and Livestock Australia, Richard spent eight years as Group Meat Specialist and
Master Butcher for Classic Fine Foods, (part of Metro Group), where he worked closely with premium customers and suppliers not only
across the UK but also within key global markets. In his new role at MLA, he is focused on strengthening trade relationships,
championing Australian red meat, and driving the industry's strategic priorities within the UK market.
