Katharina Bertl, born on February 7, 1987, is an internationally acclaimed expert in butchery and meat craftsmanship, known for her leadership as a Branch Manager in the food trade, specialising in butchery and meat processing, as well as for founding the grill and BBQ school “meat_me dahoam.” She holds multiple prestigious qualifications, including Certified Meat Sommelier, Certified Cortadora, and Certified Grillmaster (Masterclass level), reflecting her extensive expertise and passion for the craft. Katharina made history in 2022 when she became the first woman ever to be crowned World Champion at the World Butchers’ Challenge in Sacramento, USA, and continued her success in 2025 by securing the title of Vice World Champion in Paris and earning a place on the All-Star Team, again as the first woman to achieve both. In the same year, she was inducted into the World Butchers’ Challenge Hall of Fame and named BBQ Butcher of the Year with a further Hall of Fame induction, becoming the first woman to receive both honours, cementing her status as a trailblazer who continues to inspire the next generation in the industry.
