Sarah joined QMS in 2018. Over the years, Sarah took on the roles of Head of Industry Development and Director of Market Intelligence & External Affairs before becoming Chief Executive in April 2022. She lives on her husband’s family farm in Angus where they have a mix of potatoes, cereals and finishing lambs and cattle. Originally hailing from a hill livestock farm in rural Lanarkshire, Sarah has been involved with agriculture and food and drink in Scotland from a young age.
After leaving school at 16, Sarah worked in the family butchery business, selling meat from the family farm all over central Scotland, giving an early insight to consumers relationship with food and Scottish farming. Since graduating from SAC Auchincruive with an honours degree in Green Technology, Sarah has worked in the agricultural industry in both Scotland and England.
Since joining QMS Sarah has led a number of key projects including the last Monitor Farm Programme, the Scotch Beef DNA project, and has developed the public affairs workstream, specifically growing the Scottish red meat industry’s voice within Government.
Sarah is a past chair of the SAYFC Agri and Rural Affairs committee and a past vice chair of NFUS’s Next Generation committee.
