Declan has over twenty years’ experience in the agri-food sector with expertise in business development, international sales, public relations, marcoms and third level education. He graduated with an honours degree (BSc Agr) from University College Dublin.

In 2001 he joined Bord Bia, and has assumed responsibilities within the horticulture, meat & livestock divisions as well as managing the Bord Bia, Amsterdam office. From 2006 - '20, he was responsible for the development of the Chefs' Irish Beef Club; an exclusive club which sees awarding winning chefs market the advantages of Irish beef by serving it in their Michelin star restaurants. During that period he expanded and internationalised the club from thirty Michelin Start chefs to over ninety members across nine markets in Europe and the Middle East.

As Director of the EU Promotion Programme in Bord Bia he has managed over ten EU MULTI and SIMPLE campaigns culminating in a budget spend of over €45m. He has a keen interest in learning about other cultures, customs and business practices. In his spare time he enjoys baking, gardening and rugby.
