Celebrity chef and world’s first Meatologist™
Hailing from the island of Corfu, Greece, Ioannis Grammenos is a renowned chef with a culinary background that stretches back over 20 years.
He has worked across some of Europe’s most exclusive kitchens and has collaborated with global brands such as Moet & Chandon, and Lipton. Prior to establishing himself in the UK, he hosted and featured Chef on Air in Greece. Grammenos currently heads up Heliot Steak House, which sits within the world-famous Hippodrome Casino. He has developed a range of innovative dishes inspired by classic American cuisine, with touches of lighter European influences drawn from his past experience.
In May 2018, Grammenos was named the world’s first Meatologist™, with the opening of the country’s first School of Meatology™ at Heliot Steak House. His school offers a series of classes throughout the year, which aim to educate meat lovers on how best to cook steak at home. To date, Grammenos has conducted 23 masterclasses, educating a total of 223 graduates of the School of Meatology.
2019 will see the introduction of The Hippodrome’s first ever Steak Club by the School of Meatology. Masterminded by Grammenos himself, the classes will take diners on a gastronomic journey, educating them on the best steaks from around the globe.
Since taking the helm at Heliot Steak House, the restaurant has won Best Steak Restaurant in London in the Bookatable Awards for 2015, 2017 and 2018. The restaurant has also been named the Best UK Casino Restaurant 2018 by the British Casino Awards and Best Steakhouse 2018 in the Lux Magazine Bar and Restaurant Awards.
Further marking his success, Grammenos has also been elected as the Deputy Judge for the 2019 World Steak Challenge.
